A beach from Algeria 2: beach of Sidi Merouane (Cap Tenes) - Tnes, Chlef.
Right under One of the highest mountains in The city and in the state :'Mountain of Sidi Merouane"; and right next to the most advanced point of the Algerian coast , where the lighthouse of the same name was erected, the first to be built in Algeria around 1863.
Is the most famous in all Algerian cost the beach of Sidi Merouane .
To get there, you have to take the road that runs along the coast, passing by the former Cartenna hotel and the beautiful residences overlooking the city and the commercial port of Ténès. A breathtaking view of the sea is offered to visitors. An exceptional landscape where wonder is guaranteed, far from the stress and hassle of everyday life.
The Sidi merouane Beach & the lighthouse are not far away; The beach is accessed by a winding road in poor condition, due to the comings and goings of trucks carrying aggregates. Situated on at the end of a rocky cliff, nearly 100m above sea level.
About a 100 Meters above is located the magistic lighthouse of cap Tenes . Its building is of a remarkable architectural design, combining the specificity of the site and the rich colors of the Mediterranean. The visitor immediately falls under the spell of the building in question.
Moreover, it is reported that two illustrious figures, Stalin and the then French president, Vincent Auriol, had visited the place as early as 1951, as their signatures on the famous lighthouse guestbook attest.
During the summer, tours are organized to discover this hidden treasures of the Ténès coast. And lovers of walking tours always come back amazed by the splendor of this cape which has inspired many artists.
This historic monument is, unfortunately, threatened by an aggregate quarry which is located not far from the site. A very deep hole was dug in the middle of the massif overlooking the cape of Sidi Merouane.The authorities have repeatedly been approached on the subject by the population, but they seem to have difficulty reconciling the environment and the social. However, the perimeter is classified as a heritage to be protected, both by the Ministry of Tourism and that of Culture.
